How to use Poplar Products
kanga
  • All wooden strainer posts move with expansion and contraction of the soil, so ensure at least one third of the post is firmly in the ground.
  • Install adjustable gudgeon first, place gate on gudgeon and mark position of top adjustable strap.
  • Use a drill bit a fraction larger than the hinge diameter.
  • Adjust the hinge nuts until the gate is level (it helps to have a vertically level post)
  • Having chosen the type of fastener required...
    a)  FGF2 Drill small ¼ inch holes before driving the staples in at a 40' angle to the strainer post.
    b)  Screw in fasteners should also have holes drilled smaller than the thread diameter for greater grip.
  • Double gate fasteners are bolted to one gate with the saddle facing the other gate. The chain then passes round the second gate to hold them together.
Twitch the Handy Fastener chain so that it does not drop when gate is opened.
  • Weld On Pins and Sockets can be used for portable yards, cattle truck and Chute gates, Horse floats, or gates to steel posts e.g. railway iron or bore pipe.
  • Weld on sockets can be used with screw in gudgeons or thru post gudgeons into wood posts.
  • FLEXIFIT hinging systems can be used for temporary or permanent gates onto wood posts. They prevent green timber posts from splitting and can be installed or dismantled in minutes with just a crescent spanner.
  • Reversible Slam catches are safe, efficient, anti-bruising, quick action fasteners installed within the metal gate frame, regardless of which way they swing.
  • Sheepyard Slam catches can also be used for trailers and horse floats. Specify Left or Right hand.
  • Pine post Gudgeons and straps are shaped to fit round posts.
  • Self closing Hinges are designed for use on steel to steel, but can also be screwed to wood posts using counter sunk screws. Instal with the pad toward the top.
  • Gudgeon brackets can be welded to steel or screwed to wood where there is a flat surface.
